For immediate release: The Hemp Feed Coalition and animal nutritionists: Doctors Raj Kasula, Clair Thunes and Massimo Bionaz will explore the nutritional composition, anti-nutritives and feed benefits; for hempseed meal and cake as a feed for laying hens, hempseed oil for horses and pulp as a potential feed source for our pets and production animals.

The Hemp Feed Coalition is proud to invite you to our first 2021 Educational webinar that will investigate the nutritional profiles of hempseed meal and oil and post extracted pulp material for applications as animal feed. The webinar will be a short introduction to each of the ingredients including nutritional composition, intended uses, and cannabinoid concentrations led by our panel of experts. 

Dr Raj Kasula is a Veterinarian with postgraduate degree in Immunology and Nutrition; and a Certified Professional Animal Scientist for Poultry (PAS) by ARPAS. Raj is the Vice President & Chief Nutrition Officer for The Wenger Group and has over 33 years in Feed Additives and Animal Nutrition with experience predominantly in poultry. He will be discussing hempseed meal and cake as a protein supplement for laying hens.

Dr Clair Thunes has worked with a wide range of horses from lactating mares to competitive driving horses, she believes in finding the right balance not only in the horse’s diet but also between the horse’s needs and the client’s resources. She will be presenting hempseed oil as a high quality fat source for performance, retired and maintenance horses.

Dr Massimo Bionaz graduated in Animal Science receiving an Italian doctorate (recognized as equivalent to a PhD). He conducted studies at Pennsylvania State University and the University of Illinois before joining Oregon State University. His expertise ranges from agricultural to biomedical science, as it applies to his interests in fine-tuning metabolism. His research at Oregon State University is focused on pulp as a feed source for multiple animals.

Each panelist will discuss a hemp by-product as an ingredient and its potential as feed. They will share their knowledge and research experience and answer questions from the audience during a live event that promises to be insightful and educational. The goal of the webinar is to introduce the qualities of hemp by-products that make it a great additional source of high-quality protein, fat and nutrients and share a snapshot of the research that is being done which is necessary to gain legal Federal approval of hemp for animal feed.
